Dinan and BMW performance have been synonymous for over 30 years. Literally warehouses full of Dinan performance parts have made their way onto cars across the nation, and the Dinan chip is a best seller. When I first read about the BMW N54 Twin-Turbo I6 engine; it was love at first read. I knew that this engine was detuned to make the 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft of torque and some company would soon tackle BMW 3-series tuning. And recently there’s an ECU reflash in the form of a Dinan Chip that nets 80+ HP and 120+ lb-ft. of torque for a little over $2000! The new Dinan BMW relash is amazing.
At the heart of the reflash is the Dinan Chip with the patented Dinan Performance Engine Software. This allows for an increased boost pressure and with it comes more power. The stock level of 8.8 psi is increased to 13 psi. There associated fuel, timing, and ignition maps are all updated as well to ensure a stock like tune. Another great perk that comes with this Dinan performance software upgrade is the reliability factor. Any turbo that produces more power than it is built for usually burns out quicker. But the Dinan BMW software accounts for this buy reducing boost at the higher RPM range. In the end the turbo does not have to work as hard on the top end thereby increasing its lifespan.
BMW 3-series tuning has come a long way in recent years, and Dinan Performance has addressed all the inherent short comings from the factory. Turbocharged cars have higher than normal water and oil temps due to the incredible amount of heat put off by a turbocharger. The Dinan BMW package goes the extra mile in reducing these extreme and harmful temperatures. The water pump speed has been increased and the factory oil cooler is a must have option when purchasing the 335i or the 135i if you are even remotely interested in the Dinan Chip.
Last but not least; the Dinan BMW software package completely remove the governor which means you can really test the BMW 3-series tuning modifications by hitting a ridiculous top speed. With the Dinan performance exhaust and the Dinan Chip, you can expect to see 384 horsepower and 421 lb-ft. of torque! But what’s the price on the Dinan BMW upgrade? Only $2199, and your 335i or 135i will still remain smog legal and the warranty will remain in tact!
